This is a mid-19th century pub, originally the Swan Inn until 2022.
The interior is covered extensively on their website and my photo, but passingly it resembles a less psychedelic Young’s makeover as this is an MPC (GK) joint, essentially displaying a grand drawing room/gentlemen’s club aesthetic, with much modern ‘olde worlde-style’ wood and zoned areas to a nooky interior, patronised by rich studenty types and locals who live in the staggeringly grand houses passed on approach.
A better-than-expected cask lineup amounted to Abbot of course, but then Landlord and Southwark’s Bermondsey Best at a silly £6.20 a pint, in decent condition, served by a friendly barmaid.
As Graham says, this isn’t worth a special trip, but is fine if you’re in the area, but would probably be improved by ditching the tinny soundtrack which sounded like a choir of Smurfs.

Not as characterful an interior as the nearby hand in hand and crooked billet. Quirky shaped interior that zig zags back. 6 real ales and food.

A large pub with a clean, bright interior - light wood and light grey paint. A large room with assorted tables houses the bar, while there is another large extension off the rear which has more of a restaurant feel. There is a large tabled patio to the front. Despite a fair emphasis on food, there were some good beers on, with 3 Wimbledon ales alongside the usual Abbot and IPA. Perhaps not worth a special trip, but good enough if you are in the area.

Only one of the Wimbledon 8 with a cask marque sign. Not sure why - off the five pumps, three were turned around leaving the uninspiring doom bar and speckled hen

The plethora of faux chalkboards proclaim this to be a Punch Taverns pub; confirmed by the menu which has it as one of their Taylor Walker branded outlets. There are five handpumps on the bar counter, dispensing Doom Bar; London Pride; Young’s London Gold; and Rickwar Brewery Rite Flanker as the guest ale, with the fifth pump advertising an Adnam’s beer coming soon. The Rite Flanker was a decent enough pint, at £3.28 a pint. The menu contains the usual sort of Punch Taverns offerings – the pub grub staple of steak and ale pub was £8.85.
The pub itself is surprisingly large. As you enter the pub you are in a fairly large bar area leading up to the bar counter, mainly furnished with sofas and low tables and some tall tables/stools. There was a small table in the middle of this room with miscellaneous leaflets and the like on it (e.g. for the Wimbledon Theatre), but no London Drinkers. I quite liked the brass (or brass effect probably) framed candle lamps suspended above the bar counter, and there was a TV on showing the football scores. The room opens up to the right of the bar counter into another reasonably large room on two levels containing normal tables and chairs, and which appeared to be the area favoured by diners. There’s also a fair sized seating area at the front of the pub, occupied mainly by someone selling Christmas trees during my visit.
I’m not usually a great fan of Punch Taverns pubs, but nevertheless I quite liked this one. Having an interesting guest ale on is a big plus of course, and I guess having some Christmas decorations up will always cheer up a pub a bit. This is now the only pub along the Ridgway following the demise of the King of Denmark, and I’m pretty sure that I will pay a return visit.

Fantastic pub.Staff amazing great atmosphere and really really clean .There is also an outside screen brilliant idea.Well worth a visit food is good .

The pub has a modernised open plan interior with stained wooden floors, mixed seating but with a preponderance of those high tables mysteriously fashionable these days. The low sofas are present also. Some wood panelling remains, the windows now have venetian blinds. The long L shaped bar is in the corner of the main space, but the room continues on beyond and round to the right. Decor is mainly old photos of Wimbledon Village plus a selection of tennis photos and prints. Its a Punch group pub, and the usual chalkboards advertise poker night on Monday, a Sunday quiz and curry night on (when else?)Thursday. Large menus on every table too.
There were five handpumps, Pride, Youngs London Gold, Pedigree and Hop Back Summer Lightning. The fifth had a list of the "coming soon" beers which were all non mainstream, I assume the current guest was the Hop Back. A bit pricey though at £3.37.
Outdoor seating available to the frontage.
Not a bad spot with a choice of ales, but the interior is a bit on the bland side.
